I sold my Distillate back in the 80's in upstate new york at Rainbow Music in New Paltz new york. It had a beautiful birdseye maple top and the best identifier is I had my name engraved on the brass truss rod cover, probably turned around but if any one can help locate it.
Do you happen to know the serial number?
Well let me put it this way I traded it for a new Fender Jazz Bass and paid cash on top, I wasn't anywhere's near smart enough to keep track of the serial number. lol
Any pictures? I've got a pretty good recall on most Distillates that have run through here in the last decade, especially birdseye maple topped ones. I might be able to do a longshot match up with a past sale ad.
I added a photo... Not very clear obviously.
No, but I can see enough to know it was an early Distillate, short upper horn, older pickup placement. I'm guessing it had the red power led too.
Let me look around here a little. It's a very long shot even that you would be able to definitively ID it without the nameplate. But hey, I've seen really weird coincidences here with uncanny regularity.
*Most of the ones I can find quickly are eBay links that are long-dead, but here's a thread where I link to one on Reverb where it still works. Note that there is a handwritten card with the serial number and original price paid. Anything in the pics look familiar? https://club.alembicguitars.net/index.php?topic=24346.msg243173#msg243173 (https://club.alembicguitars.net/index.php?topic=24346.msg243173#msg243173)
Close but the birdseye was way more pronounced. Definately not the same one.
