I'll have access to the records room again soon, so in the meantime, can you confirm the serial number of your bass. It's not quite the format I expect. Could it be 84D3030?

Here's what was in the instrument file for 843030 (we don't even have the D on the file):
 
Distillate DMB4
top: Bubbly Maple (same as Quilted)
body: Mahogany
neck: Maple, 32 medium scale
fingerboard: Ebony, pearloid oval inlays
pickups: AXY
controls: pickup selector switch, volume, filter, Q switch, bass cut/flat/boost, treble cut/flat/boost, mono output
birthday: January 16, 1984
originally made for: not recorded
 
There is one previous registered owner of this bass in California, 1993.
