In 1993 I started playing bass and my music teacher Glen Victor McCarthy, one of the coolest teachers I had ever met played an Alembic Bass (Spoiler) I was mezmorized by the bass, It was so cool looking, sounded worlds better than my 300$ B.C. Rich. I then set a mission to one day get an Alembic bass.
On vacation back to my hometown of San Francisco I begged my mom to drive me to the Alembic factory in Santa Rosa. My mom agreed and even though being a young little teenager, the Alembic staff were very nice and cordial to me. That only solidified my desire to have an Alembic of my own.
At 16 I got myself a job working at a movie theater and saved up my money for a 18 months before I saved up enough money to get a Alembic of my own. Luckily I did not spend any money on drugs or alcohol in high school so I was able to muster up enough money sooner than a lot of people.
On Halloween day 1997 I brought home my very own Alembic. All my band mates were eager to play it too. Be careful, that bass is worth more that your life I would say. haha
15 years later I still love that bass. I was going to bring it with me to Korea on my deployment, but I felt it to be safer with my parents back in San Francisco. Nevertheless, I play that bass every time I get. I still love it just as the first day I got in back in 1997.
I am now in the market to purchase another Alembic, I always liked to the Mark King Deleuxe and I put a down payment and when I go home on leave for Christmas I will have my very own custom bass just as I have dreamed about.
I am very excited.

My question is that I am curious about the specifics on the type of wood is on the top and it's owner history between 92-97.
Welcome to the forum. Looks to me that the top wood is Bubinga, but that's just a guess after seeing a few. Looks like most likely a mahogany body with maple veneer and a neck of maple and purpleheart.
Beautiful bass~
These lookups normally take quite a while to perform, so in the meantime, poke around a bit and do some reading and posting elsewhere on the forum. This is probably the friendliest and most informative site on the Internet....
Defo bubinga..same as my MK Signature
thanx guys
