And just a short drive from my family's ancestral home of Huncote, in Leichester... unfortunately, we left there about four centuries ago. =)

that's a beauty!  Could someone elaborate on the difference with the signature electronics?  I was hoping to find a 5-string Essence, Spoiler, Distillate, or other thru-neck 5-string with filter adjustment.  How would this compare?

The signature package is a step up from the models you mentioned. It has Volume, pan, 2 filters and 2 Q switch.  
It's a freaking bargain!

If I wasn't consciously focussing on saving my pennies until the right series I or II shortie comes along this one would be heading my way PDQ.

Well spotted my friend and it looks like the 2nd time I've posted it and third time I've considered buying it. I still think it's a very tempting bass to acquire especially as the price is much more attractive now. I'd love to try it out but fear it may lead to a battle with my willpower.
