A real Elan looks much nicer, serial 89H5496.

Search done, no history of the serial number on the Alembic forum (89H5496 or 5496). I do like when it is easily provided by a seller though.
This bass was owned by a cat in Cincinnati named Rusty Thompson. He ordered it from Alembic in 89 when he was, a 4 string bandit. Rusty owns Midwest Music in Cincy and is a good friend of mine. A few years later, he sold it and it turned up in a pawn shop a quarter mile from his shop. They brouught in to do some work at his place and he gave the story behind this bass.
