Here's a strange one in our local Craigslist;

Man, if my old buddy Curt Baker was still here, he'd be on that thing like a duck on a junebug...
If'n I recollect proper, that was a spin-off of the Melobar - but I'd have to look it up to be sure.

Exactly Coz, a Peavey take on a Melobar. A little bit more useful for other play styles, but that appears to be it.
I have seen ONE real-life Melobar. I think it was a Mosrite build... too long ago. Curt would remember. I remember that it was red metal-flake finish.
Yup, that's certainly an unusual one. I might even be tempted if it was local. Definitely some Melobar DNA in this one, though it lacks the really weird slant of the Melobar.
Bill, tgo
The Melobars are interesting. Originally 10 strings set up for 2 tunings, many were converted to 8 strings for 1 tuning. The 8 strings also kept more within the pickups narrower window.
I used to play in a band with a pedal steel player whom also used his Melobar at our gigs.
Rusty Young in the band Poco used to play one. I think he is no longer with us.
It's still listed as of this morning with a price drop... I just have no earthly need for it... I seldom play the lap-steel I have that was free. I just inherited a fine resonator guitar I should be playing with more. I just like spotting weird/cool/oddball stuff in Craigslist.
(I'd really like to spot my long-lost old Martin D-16H...)
