For Sale & Trade / FS: Custom 4 Black Spoiler Sha...
Last post by hg30904 - February 25, 2026, 06:23:16 AM
Hi All,

I'm putting out a feeler to see if anyone here in the club is interested in acquiring a VGC Alembic 4 string before moving on to the other outlets.

2019, Black, Spoiler body, volume, pan, 2 filters.

This bass has been listed here before. It was one of a pair. AFAIK, this bass has never been played out. Condition is rated very conservatively.

Troubleshooting / Epic jack
Last post by Pasi - February 25, 2026, 04:03:49 AM
Hi, Can the jack be replaced with standard stereo jack? My guitar cable falls off of it. i`´ve tried to bend it back, make it tighter but no luck.

Alembic Basses & Guitars / Re: Optima 24K Bass Strings?
Last post by senmen - February 25, 2026, 03:12:35 AM
Hi Carl,
I used them for quite some time with my former WHO tribute band.
They sound great, but are rather expensive and they wear out very quick.
I am more satisfied with Rotos RS66LD which JE also used and which keep
the piano sound quite longer than the Maxima/Optimas.
Just my opinion.

Thanks Dave.  I haven't heard that version before... epic.

Somewhat related: 12 years ago we saw The Congress open for Tedeschi Trucks Band.  They were a Denver based band.  Not sure what happened to them, dusted off one of their cd's this past weekend and felt wistful.

Here they are covering Killing Me Softly.

Now that was.....interesting.
I'm gonna have to come back to it later before I figure out if I like it - but it was, as aforementioned, interesting.
Thanks, Paul.

I happened to come across this, it's pretty cool

What more can one say about Alembic basses than that they can even sound good slapped!
Not generally a fan of the technique, but that was enjoyable.

Alembic Basses & Guitars / Optima 24K Bass Strings?
Last post by dinan - February 24, 2026, 08:13:42 PM

Has anyone used any of the German Optima 24K plated bass strings? If so, which ones and what did you think? These are an offshoot of the Maxima strings that Entwistle had used at one point. I have a project I would like to use them on for cosmetics if they are any good.

Thanks!

I don't need this, so I'm not going to investigate why the price is so low and whether or not it's a scam.  Just figured I'd share in case someone is feeling brave.
