It is with great saddness that I report this item from the LA Times:
LOS ANGELES -- Warren Zevon, a restless, sardonic bard who embodied the dark edge and excess of the famed singer-songwriter scene in 1970s Southern California, died after a battle with lung cancer. He was 56.
Sleep well, Warren.
Who else remembers seeing him substituting for Paul Schaefer on the Dave Letterman show as band leader and comedy sidekick?
And he did it without wearing flaming pink suits and matching sunglasses either. His wit was so dry he'd catch David off guard, fun to watch.
Definately a musician with his own style.
