This was a recent volcano in Chile. All that stuff spewed into the sky apparently reacts with lightning in dramatic ways, described here as a dirty thunderstorm. There's another cool shot here, and you can enlarge these somewhat.
 
This appears to be the most complete set. Unfortunately I am not equipped to read the text, but it appears to be a gallery posted by the photographer. Amazing stuff.

It's a volcano eruption in southern Chile. The ashes reached my town, Buenos Aires. A two thousand kilometer distance. Imagine the size of the eruption... They posted that pic in the front page of the papers here.
