Some wonderful work by David Gans. I remember the shots well, as there are two pictures that showcase my 6 string under construction, and he used the second one as the backdrop to the index...

The B&W shots must have been made a lot earlier, and are not necessarily from the Santa Rosa factory. The tapes appear to be Alembic recordings - check out the early history - I'm pretty sure those tapes are not kept at the factory.

AFAIK you don't need to be a member. Can you see the two pictures in my post?

Edited to add: apparently you do need to register, just that I forgot I had done way back.

Edited to add: apparently you do need to register, just that I forgot I had done way back.

The picture with the tape reels is the Grateful Dead Vault, if you hover over the image a label pops up, for some reason it has no indication of year taken unlike the other b&w shots. FWIW, I also have no Flickr account and wasn't asked to log in.

I must add - except the one Mica posted a while back from his army days, that's the only pic I've ever seen of Ron sans the wizard beard.

It's opened for me now.  The Flickr site must have been down when I was trying earlier.
