...is taking one more parting shot at us here in the East. :-\
Wishes for safety for all here in the storm's path. Anybody remember the March blizzard in 1993? I want to say it was the 3rd thru 5th... about 30" fell in Roanoke.
Be safe if you gotta' get out in it Fellas. ;)
I remember 93 and 73...lol.. I am right in the path this time.... ;D
FWIW: I was living in New Jersey in '93 and that March blizzard changed my life.
It was the straw that broke the camel's back re: relocation to Arizona. Originally targeted as my retirement destination, that blizzard motivated me to relocate ASAP to 300 + days per year of sun, so I immediately set the process in motion that resulted in me moving here the day after Thanksgiving in '94.
Ironically, I still experience snow where I live (north of Phoenix) - at least once a year around the holidays. But it melts quickly.
And, about 12 years ago - you guessed it - we experienced a freak March snowstorm that dropped enough white stuff to allow the creation of snow men in front yards - right next to the saguaros.
All of you in the path of those storms have my sympathy...
95ยบ here in my part of southern california.
Hope you guys back east escape without too much damage.
So far here in Southwest Virginia, it's just been some freezing rain and sleet last night, and high wind today. Ordinarily, I dread the wind more than any other weather event, but I'm taking it as a good sign, that hopefully this storm system will blown on by us. :)
Yeah, that March 1993 storm... I was the youngest snowplow driver on duty at the small little town where I was the Water Meter Reader. The ones of us who could make it in to work were there for days. We had a sports center in town with a hockey rink... the snow was so heavy the building collapsed on the second night.
