48 years ago today, Good Old Grateful Dead released Steal Your Face - their only album more disappointing than Shakedown Street.

I'd nominate "Dead Set".

I happen to like all three of those albums :)
I went to those Radio City shows and the space-fire on the mountain on deadest was from the Halloween show, which was a lot of fun!

Dead Set is not their finest hour - but to my ear better than
SYF,
SS,
Built To Last, and
Without A Net.
Except for those ones, I like them all - but feel their best are
Live/Dead, Bear's Choice, Skullf**k, and
Europe '72 (surprise, surprise).
Peter
Of the studio albums, I probably favor In The Dark, then Mars Hotel. I have both of these in hard copy, somewhere. I actually had ITD on cassette tape back when cars had cassette decks...
But then, if I'm honest about it, the studio albums are not nearly as interesting as the live show performances of the same tunes.

As the bumper sticker used to say: If it ain't live, it ain't Dead.

I really like "Without a Net". As for studio albums, IMHO the 1970 twins, "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty" stand right at the top.

While I will confess to not having heard
Without A Net since I lost my vinyl in The Flood Of '96, I remember it as being unmemorable. I may or may not have it in the CDs my buddy Tex burned me off his
Golden Road set; when I finish this time through Disk 3 of
Live From Wesley's Road, I'll have to check, and give it another chance if I have it.
But that's a big 10-4 on
Workingman's and
Beauty!
Peter (who is also fond of
Terrapin Station)
On a side note: I have just discovered that Hunter Biden's first name is Robert; could Joe be a Deadhead???
Peter
Don't forget "Wake of the Flood". Worth it for Eyes alone!
Bill, tgo
OK, I checked; i lack Without A Net.
And yeah - I dig Wake Of The Flood (though my fav off it is "Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo" - even though it does lead into "let Me Sing Your Blues Away'.....).
