I did a minute amount of reading on hyper links, and tried out a couple of examples, but they do not work here. I looked in the FAQs but did not find anything, and did a search looking for posts on it, but found nothing. Would someone please list the correct format for posting an embedded link in text here. Thank you.
At the bottom of the page, click on Help/Instructions, then click on Formatting. The section on hyperlinks is about 2/3's of the way down, here (http://alembicguitars.net/cgi-bin/alembic-club/discus.cgi?pg=formatting#links).
The basic thing is: `link{URL, text description}
I like to put mine in bold, so I add the code for that as well: `b{`link{url,description}}
Thus, Alembic's web site (http://alembicguitars.net/) is `link{http://alembicguitars.net/,Alembic's web site} and Alembic's web site (http://alembicguitars.net/) is `b{`link{http://alembicguitars.net/,Alembic's web site}}.
I always like the new 'window' format which uses newurl at the beginning - I tried to copy the whole string but cannot make it appear properly like Master Dave.
Anyhow when you click on the link it opens a new window so that if one chooses they can listen to a COOL JAM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBQKJjXO1A8%20target=_blank) while still perusing the Alembic site!
I like using `newurl when going off site but `link while staying here. This way not too many browser windows opened which tend to be memory hogs.
`newurl{http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBQKJjXO1A8,COOL JAM}
Hey thanks guys. I am quite obtuse and never even noticed the neat stuff listed on the tabs at the bottom of page. That was much easier to do than I thought it would be, plus now when someone does a search on 'hyper,' it will bring up at least one hit and all the help they need on it. Thanks for the examples, Dave. That is usually all I need to start exploring stuff. I could learn to like this stuff. Where is the spell checker tab??? Naw, then it would be just too easy!
Your welcome Thomas!
OMG, all this time spent on this site and I never noticed this either! I always wondered how people posted in different colors, in bold letters, and included those funny little guys.!!!!! Now I know the secret. This is soooo cool!
