I was wondering if anyone out there plays the double bass and would like to talk about edgar myer. I have been playing the upright bass for years ( 4-year degree in double bass, local orch.,jazz bands ect) and When I hear these great players(like edgar playing arco) I get all into playing again,And then the same old story.I go back to pizz. How did he do it?
I don't play double bass, but since you've brought up Edgar Meyer, I thought I would share this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zTbuO3pjzo); really cool!
And so is this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYcKn7W3hmk)! Edgar with Victor Wooten.
Yes, thats Edgar and just a bit of what he can do.
He is an amazing bassist. And Victor, Well, we all know about his great talent.
Have you ever heard from the double bass player Renaud Garcia Fond? Check him out, he?s the craziest bassplayer I ever heard. He probably playes a 5 string model with a high c-string. His phrasing is just unreal on a upright bass.
How did Edgar Myer do that? Simple answer: great talent, practising like a mofu and a lot of creativiy in solving of technical problems, do you know his recordings of the cellosuites?
better than with some famous cellists because he plays with a lot of taste.
