Wow!
Is that the '76 you bought from Guitar Center?

Beautiful bass!  And yes, that's an unusual tailpiece.

That should be some birthday celebration next year...30 years old, but doesn't look a day over 10. Is that a variation of the 'mustache' tailpiece?
An exquisite example of early Alembic craftsmanship...best of luck with her!
Correction: there is 'much' money to be made above the fifth fret....

Congrats Eiji! What a beauty!
Looking at the last pic: is it a lined fretless?

Enjoy!

hi eiji

that's a beautiful and very interesting bass!  is that an early 'fan' peghead?  it's striking with the standard point body.  the flame-koa body is gorgeous, and it goes beautifully with the rosewood top and back.  i've never seen that combination before; in fact i've never seen a koa body before

reinier, perhaps eiji will confirm this, but i believe those are low-profile mandolin frets.  they are/will be a feature of my 'simple bass', which is under construction

Hi there,

Yes, the bass is lined fretless with coated fingerboad.
I ask about it to Val.
Nut and bridge were replaced at factory 1983.
But fretless conversion was done another work shop.
Coated fingerboard is still good condition.
I will keep fretless for a while.

Hi marc,
I think low-profile mandolin frets is good idea.
Please let me know the touch, when you get your bass.
