Well, through some sort miracle of serendipity, I will be Alembic'ed again. Mica saw my post about being on the lookout for a short scale coco bolo  with LEDs and thought I might be interested in this beauty!

Here's the back:

I suppose I am creating my own FTC!

I can't wait to get this into my hands! As much as I loved my S1 Schedua bass (now in excellent hands that I hope are functioning again), I knew that I really wanted a shorty!

Awesome!
I sold my long scale Series I to buy a shorty. It's not a Series bass, but I don't regret at all.
They are a joy to play.
Looking forward to complete pictures!

ps. The wood looks like a Zebra Cocobolo close to the neck part of the body, and that is cool!

Fantastic!!!

Congrat's my brother. The hand is as good as new and we tore it up tonight. What Happened? I thought you were going to wait? There is a story here that needs telling. Ohhh, Snap. I am probably going to see this bass soon, as I am taking the Hyak down in two weeks. I will know then about what I am doing with that old Stars Bridge. I am so happy for you. It looks like it has eyes.

What happened? I am not sure, I think sometimes things just line up in the right way and you have to pay attention to what the universe is telling you. I'm playing a bit more than I thought I would be and this just seems right. I hope it's in playable shape when you head down the coast and you can get your hands on it!

I'm really glad your finger is better and that you are back to making music.

Edwin:

FAR FREAKIN' OUT!!!!  That is one absolutely gorgeous instrument with a truly sick piece of cocobolo.  So elegantly simple and yet mind-blowing at the same time!  It's nice to know that Alembic is the kind of company where Mica keeps an eye out for us.  Congrats!

I'll gladly join in and you deserve it, Edwin.
Congratulations!

Thanks, now I'm experiencing the exquisite pain of anticipation! Luckily I have instruments that I love to play already.

My wife is always extolling my powers of manifestation, but I never quite believe it until it happens.

This is an inspiration to join an Alembic gathering, but they all seem to be quite distant. Perhaps it's time for a Colorado gathering!

I can see it now, the first annual Telluride Alembic Festival!

edwin

Maybe we can squeeze it in between the Mushroom Festival and the Nothing Festival!

Seriously, if you've never been there, it has to be a your life list. It's a truly stunning place. While it's been mightily Aspenified over the last 10 years (Parking meters? WTF?), so it's not the funky hippie vibe it once was (think Bolinas in the mountains, although perhaps Ward fits that description.)

Seriously, please go at least once. The jazz festival is top notch and they specifically undersell it for the venue size in order to enable everyone to have a great time without having to deal with hordes of rambunctious yahoos.

Can you tell I like T-Ride? Oh, the stories I could tell....
