Any Alembic player that doubles on the Double bass is very much embedded in the low frequencies!!
Here's to those basses!!!

Actually I was at an open mike nite, I don't play an upright, I do have a fretless precision that's about as close as I get to the big bass. Everything is original even the frets and believe me they are pretty worn. I just don't trust anyone to work on it. I bought in a store in Philadelphia in 1978-79. I don't know who had it made with the brass inlay. I just asked Alembic about it,maybe they will remember whose idea it was

Philadelphia is my home town where I cut my teeth on Bass and guitar (especially bass)! South West Philly to be exact near 55th and Baltimore Avenue! Hollywood Palace @ 52nd and Walnut st had talent night on Wednesdays where you'd get laughed off the stage if your chops weren't up to the challenge! Man, I miss those days! What store did you get your axe from? 18th and Chestnut? Or 8th Street Music?

(If I remember correctly, that music store at 18th and Chestnut used to be called Music City.  I once bought a Mosrite 12-string guitar from them.)Nice bass, vincebus!
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Actually I found it at Cintioli Music Oxford Circle NE Philly . Heard they had cool bass gear so I took a ride, met the owner Bennie and told him I had a cool bass  a BC Rich Mockingbird. Oh yea that's a nice bass, follow me. He took me down to the basement of the store and pulled out the Alembic That's a bass He said . I've had it ever since

I remember Cintioli's....You were very lucky to hook up with Bennie !!
Hey Dan! You're absolutely correct in that the name of the music store being Music City!! I bought a used Telecaster Bass for $300.00 bucks in 1973, I still have it too! But I had an Alnico Music man pick up installed in it about 10 yrs ago. In addition I had it re-fretted.
