It was nice to talk with you yesterday.

Here's the top Chip picked to match the Skylark:

I think the instruments will look really nice together.

Thank you Mica, it was a pleasure speaking with you again.  Chip is the Man!  The instruments will definately compliment each other. I'm sure that this bass will be beautiful.  It's great to be able to watch my sandwich being made : )

bishopqdog

Mica, will a picture of the back laminate be available soon?

Thanks Mica, that is a very nice piece of wood!

The bass is in prerouting now:

The body is finished to its final thickness, and after the front and back routing is complete, then it's time for carving.

Man... and it's mine!  Thanks Mica, I've really been curious about this bass.  It looks great.

Wasn' able to catch the guitar before prepping, but here's a snapshot of Tony sanding your bass in preparation for the enxt coat of spray:

Your bass was finished on Friday and should be arriving on Wednesday. Here's some preview pictures:

Thanks Mica, it's quite exquisite.  I'll have a strap ready for it.

I received this bass on Tuesday.  The pictures don't do it justice.  It is awesome.  I didn't know that I would like the short scale so much.

Brother Quincy,

now THAT's an unusual bass: shoirt scale, 5 string, 2/3 ratio peghead, the woods ...in short a real Alembic with the right personal flavour that makes it unique!
Congrats and ...oh yes ...don't forget top eat and drink a little bit between the playing!

Paul the bad one

bishopqdog

Paul, Thanks for noticing my new joy.  I was going for unusual.  Although I had nothing to do with the peghead ratio.  By the time I thought about that, the holes were already drilled.  I don't think I've ever enjoyed playing a bass as much as I've enjoyed playing this one.  It has a great tone going direct, I know it will be special going through a nice direct box or preamp!

mica

2/3 Crown peghead is standard issue on short and medium scale basses.

I agree, Quincy - that bass is so much more amazing looking in person. That back is so non stop gorgeous!
