It's going to be a lot of fun watching this one being built!  What scale is the neck?

Wow, it just registered that this is a Classico in progress! (didn't fully read the thread title a few days ago).

This will be fun, even from the sidelines. How many strings?

Thank you sooo much for the pics, mica!!! I can't wait to see the top cut.
I'm not looking at the specs currently, but if i remember correctly it's a 41 and 1/2 scale length... Stanley's measurements on his 18th (?) century bass.
Definitely 4 strings. My hands can't agree with an upright with more than 4.
Excitement is not the word.

A 41 1/2 scale, two ebony lams, mahogany body, and a coco bolo top.  That should give a great fundamental!

First off Congrats!
Secondly, ... which lottery did you win?

I would have loved to have seen the look on the Alembic peoples faces when the work order for a coco bolo classico came through.

I predict that this will be the most watched thread of 2006.

Coco Bolo is such an awesome wood. This is going to be one fine instrument. Congrats Paul, and now as Carly Simon once sang, Anticipation.....

Paul? hmm.... pretty sure this ones mine ;p
Jim- I actually let them know I was interested in a Walnut classico, but then Mother Alembic herself told me she'd been storing this piece of Coco Bolo specifically for a classico for several years. I'm so psyched. I've checked this thread like 10 times a day... let the addiction begin!... er... continue!

Okay, Chip has pulled out the pieces and is prepping the clamps for getting this big boy glued up. These are the Mahogany body parts:

Do you have a preference for the top bookmatch arrangement?

Thanks for the update, Mica.
I really like the look of the layout in the first pic, especially with the part in the top of the pic being the lower part of the bass. I think I'd like to go with that if possible.

Even though there's a lot of cool instruments in the works, I'm really dyin to see an update on this thing.
