Hey Danny Great to talk with you today - and we're all happy about your record deal! Here's the picture of your next Excel before the black:

Just so you know what's underneath!

dannobasso

Yes! and only the chosen few will know of it's secrets! Dis' un gonna be real punchy, I gurantee!
Danno, bless you all.
BTW, did you choose Bedevere or the Black Knight?

dannobasso

BTW, are the led's already wired? I can't detect them under the tape. Excuse my anxiety mingeled with my delight at your speed on this one. Thanks also to Susan for the bridge block suggestion.

Danno,

That's really beautiful flame on this baby.  Will it be covered in black?

dannobasso

Absolutely! the top is for the sonic treatment.  My last custom was a solid mahog body, no top. Mica and Susan always pick out great wood for me. This one will have 2 custom inlays, led's and Distillate guts.

Blackened now:

and ready for the front inlay.

Bless you dear heart! A little bit of gore with the swan perhaps?
BTW, I spoke with Trip at NAMM and exchanged Alembic compliments. He was working GLOCKENKLANG. If you and Susan  flushed a bit, it might have been all the kind words from Anaheim.
oh, (selector not pan right?)
Danno

mica

Yes - it's Spoiler with bass and treble switches. It's hard to see amidst the sea of black, but the hole closest to the bridgeblock is the pickup selector.

The gore will be good - right up Mike's alley for sure. The light blue he added around the 12th fret inlay is subtle, but you can see it up close (sorry it's all taped up).

Trip is so cool - did he have his new 5-string fretless in Walnut with him?

dannobasso

Alas no, he raved about it and spoke so highly as I mentioned. The booth was also for Vignier (sp?)French basses and another German maker I can't recall.  I did my best fiddley-fiddley playing. This baby will go on the Warped Tour along with Kay. I always miss seeing an Alembic at NAMM. (sniff,) but I know that there is little payback for the expense.

Vigier -not vignier although the allusion to the wine is great- is French.
And ...they are expensive here too!!!

Trip on Glockenklang huh?!?!
V??????????????-?ry clean I guess??

A Blonde tranformed in black ...great!! Nice bass. All the best touring!!!

bsee

The wine is Viognier, at least that's the name of the grape.  Of French origin, it is also grown in Sonoma, the home wine region of Alembic.

Danno, you ever think of having one of these done in a Chromalusion black?  I bet that would have really cool stage presence.

dannobasso

My nearly black Excel shows up very purpley. I just love black. I have a black Ric. Thunderbird, Spoiler, Excel, LP Classic and a Strat. I have pleanty of very nice clear wood finishes in Koa, flame maple, quilted maple, flame walnut, and cocobolo. I'd have to see what the chromalusion black looks like before I'd consider it. If the money comes in I'm tempted to get an Alembird. Most likely in black or almost black but less purpley. Hey Mica, the shirts are in the mail on Thursday!

Danno:

Congrats on another(!) new one. You da man!

Cheers,

Kevin

P.S., I think Vigier is Geezer Butler's current axe of choice
