I was troubleshooting performance issues on a client's computer, and noticed that the latest version of AVG for Windows (8.0?) introduces permanent scanning for a whole list of file extensions. Rather crude way of filtering, if you ask me - might well lead to totally pointless 'virus warnings'.

I went out there and didn't have any problems but I'm using a different AV program.

My virus detection software is the AVG products, too. It is possible that the AVG stuff is not accurate...

It may be that in this case AVG is reporting a false positive.
