Now that is a cool pose with a super cool bass.

I'm a closet Exploiter bass fan but i think it would have too much stage presence for the jazz funk type of gigs I do but I guess it would be kind of cool in a reggae band.  :-)

Anyone got a picture of a Dragon's wing bass in a gig situation?

I can say the same, I find Exploiter bodyshape very captivating, but can't imagine myself getting into one of my samba gigs with one in hand since they still think bass just as Precisions only. P-Basses sounds great, but they are simply not me...
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!

Me again...
Here's some more with a bit of color/colour!  Should anyone wonder why I'm sitting down in some photos... I have a serious case of rheumatoid arthritis in my upper spine/neck (getting old is so much fun... not!) and have to sit once and awhile.  Ol' number 7 is pretty heavy!  Photos by my friend Jamie Compton

I hear you, Dean! I was just diagnosed with arthritis in my hips. A perfect complement to being a new parent. Still, it beats the alternative.

I'm loving all these shots. Some basses I've never seen and some old friends. I'm also loving the fact that Alembic instruments travel from honky tonks to the most upscale of establishments.

Slawie, what's the serial number on that straight bar bridged bass? It looks like it might have originally had caramel pickups. I'm wondering if it might have been the original home of the pickups in my Starfire.

Hey Edwin,
The serial number is 75-251S
As far as I know the pick ups are original
They are the single screw types with the round connectors

Ah, mine are older than that, I think. They are also single screw and are trapezoidal inside the rectangular shell. The connectors are RCA.

Played on the worlds smallest stage on Saturday night. Two hour set, sat on a stool with my speaker box massaging my left kidney!

FC, do you play specific alembics for particular songs or do you play whatever you feel like at the time?

The '88 Spoiler is tuned one step below the low strings of a five string (ADGC) I use it for two songs: Sad but true and Whiskey in the jar.
The Elan 5 is used on songs I play with a pick ('88 and up Metallica songs)
The '83 Spoiler on older 'tallica tunes songs played with the fingers (AXY = best thumbrest ever) and to keep the show going for some songs played with a pick.

I've got to reiterate once again that I think it's so awesome that Alembics can cover so much musical territory and sound so different doing it.

BTW, I checked your site, fcbass and it gave me a Spinal Tap moment with a page none more black and none of the apparent promised info on effects and amps.

jazzyvee

Taken at a gig with Elizabeth Fields Collective at the Jam House in Birmingham at the beginning of the month. The bass is my bocate Europa 5.
Wearing a suit on a gig is not my style really but that was what the band wanted. :-)
