Why not put the Fender on eBay with a high reserve.  I suspect it may be worth more than you think and likely could fetch more than the Alembic.  The Blue Book value on a '66 Jazz ranges from $2300-6500, depending on condition (and the Blue Book tends to be very conservative in my experience).  The market in older Fenders is insane.  Even 70's Strats with the 3 bolt neck, probably the worst strats ever made, are going for a few thousand!
