Alembic basses and fuzz/distortion?

I wonder if there's an effect box you can buy to input the mic cable from the kick drum to get that squeaky pedal sound?

First time poster, long time reader.  
 
Hah this thread turned into one of the funniest things I have read in a long time.  The drummer from my old band was terrible in maintaining his drum kit.  The squeak got so bad we made him show us his kick drum pedal, and the bearing had totally fallen out of it.  The bar that pivots had eaten about 3/4 of in inch down the insert area and was full of metal flakes etc.  He didn't last long after that.  
 
The only thing that stays the same is change.

Hi Roger, welcome!  I don't play drums and know nothing about the equipment, but I do seem to recall that there have been many instances where the kick pedal failed during a show.  I'm guessing there is indeed some level of maintenance required.

OK, this was my first question thread, and I'd appreciate it if we could stay on topic and restrict the discussion to distortion for squeaky bass drum pedals!
