I can't play that German grip... can't do it. You'd think the wrist would be stronger. It just feels backwards to me.

So if she had it tuned for C, and presumably 'capo'd for E, then the fine adjustment allows the string to be dropped to probably B, just like our basses. Phew. Too much to think about!

The fine adjuster on the E-string is interesting. I'm guessing the bassist uses this for D or C tuning. (*this is why it would never do for me to attend such an event... I would have to ask!)

Anytime we go see live music (short of JT at Wrigley or the Dead at Alpine), Senior Management starts dragging me toward the door before the last note has died, because She knows I'm headed for the stage to ask someone about their gear........

A capo? Thinking of an electric 4 I used to have with a Hipshot detuner, I'd have been more confused if I'd had to navigate a capo on top. All academical anyways, as I can't remember them hitting much below E.

Imagine this, then......

A friend & I once spent a day e-mailing back & forth figuring out how many tunings that is; at the end, he queried "How big a pair of geeks are we, anyway?"
To which I replied "Pretty big - but we're nowhere near the geekdom of figuring out how to use 256 tunings in one song!"
Enjoy!

Love Manring.  Don't even try to figure out how he navigates an ever changing fingerboard. 🤯

Practice. Practice. Practice.  Went to one of his shows 15-20 years ago (Nearfest). He said he didn't have girlfriends when growing up....played a 1000-seat hall and the volume was glorious!  Could you imaging a show with him backing Michael Hedges?  I might have considered doing a bit of acid before that show. With an opening act of Eric Mongren & Victor Wooten.

Peter (who has often said his tripping days are way in the rearview - too many years, too many compromises; he fears his psyche could no longer stand up to that level of introspection - but for that show?  Yeah, quite possibly.......)

Man, I am so done with this Winter. It's cold as dammit here and the wind is ree-diculous.

Late February, and we haven't gotten 6" total.........
Lots of <0°F, though (but a few days in the 60s last week).

Peter (who misses knowing it would be cold & the grass would be buried late Nov-early March)
