I think a clue may lie in the "Worm-Eaten Alder" section, which starts by saying the wood is aged 20 years - and further down says he's been working on the idea for 4 years......

Not knowing how it was fumigated I'd be more concerned that there are no active woodworms left. Looks wise I think it adds something to alder which by itself is a rather boring wood. As to tone I'd expect your typical Fender sound as it is/was a very common wood in their electric instruments.

Price seems a bit optimistic considering it is a "kit bass."  You can go the Warmoth Guitar  route and save amount $5,500.00. I doubt critters could survive in that body. It looks like there is a finish on the body.  Can worms survive w/o oxygen?

Well, alder is supposed covered in a 3-tone sunburst or candy apple red........

Indeed - but then the same could be said for anything out of the Fender Custom Shop.

Gary, I can't answer the question about the oxygen level and its effect on the worms longevity but I have seen furniture where wood worms came to the surface eating through the finish because the wood wasn't treated properly.

I think that having less Alder in an instrument will surely improve the tone. Good work, worms!

Aside from the price to the right of it, it looks like a cheap instrument.
