Thanks Bones, I do agree with you there and I think they are the perfect body for a 5 string bass. In fact i've just put mine down to get a coffee. Are there any pictures of your bass on the forum?

Check out the Europa 5 String w/ Series I Electronics in the Custom Basses section of the Showcase.  I posted a picture from years back.  I went through 3 used Alembics and took the features I liked in each to design my custom build.  I've had the bass since 2003.  It sounds great and will be a family heirloom.

I think you, like myself, don't like picking a favorite, but this one seems to pick you a lot, Jazzy. Fine instruments are like that.

For sure, whichever one i pick up feels like my favourite. I really can't decide on an overall favourite.

Thankfully i have completed another trip round the sun with this incredible bass. I am 'ALWAYS' in awe of how this and my other alembics sound. The up front low end on this is incredible and is my first call for outdoor reggae festivals or whenever i want a warmer bottom end. At the risk of preaching to the choir, alembic are still heading the pack. It's also interesting how many low pass filter systems are starting to appear as after market items.
