I thought they did a pretty believable job with how John would have aged in the movie "Yesterday".

Just finished the last episode.  What a joy it has been.

Latest edition of Bass Player (formerly Bass Guitar Magazine) just arrived today listing the best 100 bass players according to voting.  Overall, Paul McCartney 2nd......who was 1st?.

I tried to check the list out; not being a subscriber, I Googled.  There is no link to the article, but on another forum someone said that Paul was #3, after James Jamerson & Jaco Pastorius.

Fine players one & all - but I think they skipped over Phil Lesh, Jack Casady, David Freiberg, E.E. Wolf III, John Entwhistle, Roger Waters, Jack Bruce.........

Peter (who would be more upset by this egregious error if these "100 Best" lists weren't pure bovine waste material)

I'm going with the home team; has to be Jimmy Johnson.  Being able to answer the call to join a tour in progress playing with Hiromi; that's a testament to great musicianship.   :)

You think maybe Stanley Clarke is on that list?    Also Ray Brown, Lee Sklar,  and Carol Kaye?

Jaco frequently shows up at the top of those lists but in this day and age I wouldn't be surprised to see Gene Simmons up there.

Glynn

Yes, Bill - all those are there.  Jaco 1st.

Just got my copy of the Get Back Book.  Just thumbed through it and need to "Go Back" and read it through.  Amazon first released it at $60.00.  It's down to $30.00.  It will be a great compliment to the Let It Be movie eventually released in the future.

After watching the whole thing I came away with a completely different view of these guys. McCartney's stock rose considerably as a singer, writer, and bass player. And as for what all those songs meant?  I no longer wonder. But I can't help but think of all those hangers-on had just let them be to do their stuff, and if they'd found a good manager after the death of Epstein, they might have lasted a while longer.
