I have just learned that Robbie Shakespeare passed away at age 68 Dec. 8, of complications from surgery for kidney issues.

Bad buzz.

Damn, no more Sly and Robbie...I have a story about them; Black Uhuru and King Sunny Ade were playing UBC Memorial gym in the '80's, my buddies and I wound up playing some soccer with them before the show which was fun. During Black Uhuru's set, Michael Rose called out "light up! light up!" so we did, I had a 1/4  ounce rolled up in a giant cone! the folks around us certainly enjoyed our generosity and Sly and Robbie were especially looking and pointing to each other about us; amazingly, security did nothing...great show...Tony.

I saw that tour at the Hynes Auditorium in Boston. One of the best shows I ever saw.
