"Scorsese is on board to direct and produce ... Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann will executive produce ... Apple has rights to use the group's musical catalog for the film"

Could be interesting.

Jonah Hill is one actor that could definitely pass as being Jerry on LSD.  Should be interesting.  Hope they get to The Wall of Sound era!
The only thing that stays the same is change.

This could get ugly.   At least it has to be better than Jerry in Half Baked!

Hopefully they get period-correct instruments for this film. Would like to see some Alembics on the big screen

I'm really excited about this movie.  Jonah Hill played an excellent character in Wolf of Wall Street and Moneyball.  I really don't see how someone could make a film about the Dead and not include the wall of sound or Jerry's legendary instruments.  They are just as iconic in their own way.

It's a pity they don't have Owsley to help supervise production (of the film).  At least they have good source material for the score.  Now the question arises - how closely are they going to show Jonah's hands?  I really dislike it when they add obviously badly faked playing instead of using film cutaways to real players.  I'll be curious how much time is really devoted to them playing vs personal material (hopefully the latter - in my never humble opinion.)

... and a period correct wall of sound.   :)

Interestingly, I know someone who is building his v.3 of a functional Wall of Sound replica (1/6 scale?). I hope they hook up with him to use it for the movie!

I wonder if any of the alembic connection with Jerry & GD will be recreated in some scenes and if so who would be playing Ron or other alembic staff of the time.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

I've seen videos of this Wall.   Very cool!   He even has the tiny little double mics that Ron designed to avoid feedback with the mic facing the Wall.

Any of the videos publicly available on-line?

Thanks!  Also checked out one of his videos with it set up on stage.

Here's the 1/4 size version.  He's working on a 1/2 scale size one next - two stories tall and 30' wide!

Ah; I didn't notice that they were different.
