Just my 2 cents - I would just add a Q switch to the existing circuit and enjoy!

Great minds think alike gearhead! Adding the Q switch was the first thing I did, even before the refinish, the frets, and fixing the pickup polarity issue! 🤣.

I know it's not on the bass but you could an SF-2 in your signal chain which would give you all the goodness and sonic flexibility you could wish for.
