This time for about $5k more than i paid for it:

Only problem is - last time i checked, it's still sitting in my living room. 🙄

What would reverb do if a buyer sent the money and the bass never arrives because it is a bogus sale? Do they refund the buyer and pursue the seller?

I don't think he's saying it's a "bogus sale".  A little below the pictures, under "About This Listing", it alludes to the fact the bass in the pictures is similar to the one on order for delivery in April.

this is how it came to my attention - i get a reverb email that states:

"The Alembic MK5 Del. Buckeye Burl *On Order, ETA April, 2021. Last One at CURRENT PRICE you are watching has been relisted and is now available."

hmmm, i say.  scroll down and it's my bass that's been relisted.  can't see the serial number but the pattern on the top is like a lover's face - I'd know it anywhere.

so either there's something hinky going on or somebody's got major inventory control issues.  unless alembic has started making carbon copies of their instruments, the bass you see in the picture is not the bass you're gonna get if ya put yer money down.  if ya don't have a picture of it and it's not in your possession, how do ya list it?

I'd expect better of those guys.  i'm just sayin'

As long as I can remember, Bass Central have had a selection of Alembics on offer on their own site, and if one sold it would get clearly marked as sold, in bold characters printed in red, and with the same wording that a similar build was on order. Now sales even for shops with a well-established webshop appear to move to the Reverb platform, and the options for dressing up the descriptive text appear to be limited. Just my 2ยข.

well, fwiw i don't like it, but then again, there's a lot of stuff i don't like 👴.

in the meantime, i got a house full of jacked-up electrical outlets to replace, so movin' on...

My point about bogus is was a general statement not directed particularly at this specific post. In other words what do Reverb do to rectify the situation if any sale on there is proved to be non existent or fake.

It's clear in the listing that he is offering a similar bass:

"Alembic Mark King Signature Deluxe 5-String
*SIMILAR BASS ON ORDER, ETA = APRIL, 2021.
*LAST ONE AT CURRENT PRICE!"

Not much to see here.
