Wow!  A 1974 Spoiler - those are really rare!

I've never thought much about spoilers before but looking closely at this one it just hit me that my brain is expecting a third knob. For pan/blend.
Clearly it was not designed for that setup since it has the selector switch. However I can see that would make it really easy to use live and repeatable tones easier than a blend or two volume setups. Looks a good one to strip the paint back to the natural wood too. :-)

Jazzyvee, I think that is the standard set up for a spoiler, but looks like this one has added the Q switch (?) and LEDs

Its my one folks (and 1974 was a typo). Nothing at all wrong with the bass. I am losing my music mojo and selling off all but one of multiple bass collection as I don't see any chance if gigging for the foreseeable future. Sad but true (to quote Metallica)

Q switch is standard on a Spoiler. And just FYI, Distillates are the same (vol/filter/Q/pickup selector) with the addition of bass and treble cut/flat/boost switches.

that's kinda tough to hear.  My sympathies.  FWIW my last gig was about 3 years ago - after 45+ years of performing, bad back and old age forcing the issue and covid being the final nail in the coffin for public appearances.

BUT - i soldier on, arthritic fingers notwithstanding and try to get at least an hour a day on one or both basses just because i can and that's something that i will never allow to be taken away from me.

so - don't give up.  it sucks now and probably will for the next year.  but it ain't forever.  it can't be.  i refuse to accept it!
Been down...now i'm out!

While this bass might have been a refinished Alembic uses the same woods on their solid finishes as they do on see through finishes so it wouldn't be out of question for a black bass to have a nice top wood underneath.
