Oh my word, it's arrived! You may have seen from my Facebook posts (sorry) but it's my NEW BASS DAY!! 20th Anniversary Exploiter John Entwistle Spyder Bass. Year 2004 from what I can see on the documentation.

I've been waiting about 3 weeks since purchase and I was very nervous during the shipping because DHL were pretty slow. However, it was superbly wrapped (thanks to the No. 1 Guitar Shop) and it's all safe and sound!

It's got a few dings but is in excellent condition really, love it!

Cheers folks!

Congratulations & Compliments, George! Can't wait to see/hear what you post up with that monster.

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Great catch George, those basses are outrageous but gorgeous at the same time.I hope i can get to one of your gigs where you are playing it. I've never heard an 8 stringer. Big bass, Big sound!

Reading about the dings makes me feel better - I'd be so nervous, remembering how I'd keep bashing into door jambs with my Spoiler/Exploiter. Yours is even bigger with the long headstock!

Will you be playing it with a pick or fingers? Definitely looking forward to hearing it!

Beautiful!  But the serial number says it's from '03, not '04 (first 2 characters are the last 2 of the year).

Hi everybody, thanks so much for your interest and your comments! The bass is indeed from 03 (my mistake) I shall see if I can edit the thread. From the documentation it came with, it's actually number 8 of the 25 which is fitting, as it's an 8 string. Nice number.

I've been playing with pick so far, the attack is massive. It's still adjusting to my home and will set up properly! Ideally I'll play both with fingers and pick, pretty sure J.E does that!

I'll attach a video, some of you may have seen on Facebook (again sorry) just so you can hear what it sounds like. Headphones if you have 'em to hand will really give you an idea of the beast.

George,
many congrats to your new Spyder 8 which is in fact
my old Spyder.
I had imported that one, No 08 of 25, back in the days
new from Bass Central.
Sold it again, I think around 2006, back to the US, it went back
from the US to a German collector and then was for offer
after his passing by No.1.
Now it is in gods hands again!!
Cheers
Oliver

I did wonder whether it was your old one but I could not remember if yours had the V shaped headstock.
