Interesting BC Rich Eagle bass with Alembic PUPs on EBay in CA

Local pickup only. Probably worth it just for the electronics. Too bad I don't live near there...

Such a deal!   The double P-Bass pickup set up is interesting.

I contacted the seller and requested a picture inside of the electronics cavity . I want to see the actual Alembic electronics inside or not . As well I want to see the pickup switch wiring .
This is the seller's response ;

"This was my brother's Bass. I don't know how to do what you ask, about electronics cavity. My brother had this guitar for at least 15 years. "

Dang, my closest friends are in San Diego. Looks like almost 2 hours by car. Seems like a great price.

First in Anaheim, then two months later in Eugene for twice the price?  Sounds like either a flip or someone just didn't like the bass.

It's a flip. It's in the Talkbass Classifieds for cheaper if anyone is interested.

There was a Walnut five-string Epic on Craigslist here in the Bay Area a week or so ago selling for $800, guy said he would take $700 for a quick sale. Not a fan of predatory instrument flipping and with the virus I wasn't willing to drive up to the Cotati area to buy it since I neither wanted or needed it. Naturally it sold almost immediately and resurfaced two days later listed for $2,200. Price has since dropped to $1,900 (on Reverb). At the original selling price it would have made a good "first" Alembic for someone curious about the brand who does't have lots of money. If I had been willing to buy it I would have sold it cheap to someone who planned to keep it.

One of Fatdog's (Subway Guitars/Berkeley) four-string builds is currently for sale up in Grass Valley. It has what looks like a no-name graphite neck and Alembic pickups, no mention of what the electronic chassis is but probably also Alembic. $650...

 I don't know if the $700 Epic 5 actually sold at that price.  As I recall, the guy was selling off his dead father's belongings, including the bass.  I saw it early in the morning, shortly after it was posted.  I emailed him that if he wanted to sell for $700 I would buy it, but it was really worth $1700 - $2200.

I think the guy who has this bass is more into BC Rich than Alembic stuff. When he first got it, he posted a query in the Alembic Club on Talkbass about the value of the electronics. I messaged him about buying them when he figured out what he wanted for them. Never heard anything back, so I guess he must have decided to sell the whole caboodle instead.

Funny thing is, I used to have some of those white DiMarzios that came in those things! I sold 'em to somebody here several years ago that needed them to finish a project.

What is the current market value of a pair of such P bass DiMarzios  in excellent condition  ?

gtrguy

I got 2 DiMarzios from 2 great folks on here a few years back for my old BC Rick Mockingbird project that I have now finished. I wonder if they were they ones.
