Really too bad I hadn't yet started playing bass last year when I shot this and a bunch of others last year at Long Beach Jazz Festival. I had all access with the house photographer team. I really kick myself for not taking the opportunity to meet Stanley and Marcus Miller who was also there. I've been a fan of Stanley since  my high school days in the 70's, but never until recently knew anything about the Alembics.  It was pretty awesome to see Stanley in concert and up close and personal. He always seems to have these super-talented musicians in his band and man they were were superb! He closed out the 3 day festival and gave the crowd an amazing performance.

He is The Man.

So Jay, are you now an Alembic owner?

Stanley is certainly "da man!", but "The Godfather" will always be Phil's Alembic modded Starfire.

Pauldo,
As a matter of fact, yes just as of last weekend. Having just started playing bass  a few months ago, I hadn't really intended to be until later on. I looked at the Alembics, decided I wait until I had more experience under my belt and then kind of forgot about them and started looking at Musicman and others , but I just happened to stop into our local higher end guitar store ( Emerald City Guitar) where I was greeted at the door by an 85 Zebrawood  Spoiler that had just came in. Knowing we had bonuses coming in at work it was pretty much a no brainer. Now I just need to stop looking at those Series I models and my next Alembic.

Great looking bass and goes well with the decor. I look forward to reading how you get on with it. It is hard to have just one alembic.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

I've bought a few guitars from Jay at Emerald City.  Nice guy, great store.

Nice Zebrawood; congrats!  And welcome!

Wow, that's beautiful, I love the look and sound of zebrawood! :)

Wow...I can see why that Zebrawood heartnapped you  :).  I agree, stop looking at Series anything or Signature anything or anything anything right now, before you reach the abyss. It can seriously rework your finances.

Great pic of Stan the Man and great score on the Spoiler! Perfect place to start - my first Alembic was a Spoiler too.

And Bill is right, "The Godfather" is kind of a technical term in Alembic-land, I immediately thought Phil Lesh when I saw the title of the thread.

Enjoy your journey into both bass & Alembic!
