Glad to see, that at least way up there in VA, you're getting some fall foliage.  Down here in Hotlanta, ON NOVEMBER 1st mind you...there's not an orange leaf to be seen anywhere!  That's some beautiful scenery you got there!!

Whereas here in northern Illinois, 3/4 of them are off the trees & in the lawn - where they're not nearly so pretty (considering who it is that will have to rake them).

The family and I visited Graceland Cemetery in Chicago on Halloween. What a beautiful day!

I used to live about 2 blocks from Graceland; walked by it on the way to my favorite Mexican restaurant.  That is one lovely boneyard!

Paul; the closest neighbor is 660 feet, which is 640 feet on a flat map and then a difference in elevation of 165 feet.  When the leaves are on the trees, there are no visible houses; in winter you can kinda see two of the houses that are across the street, depending on where you're standing, and a few way on the far mountain side, again depending on where you're standing.

First snowstorm of the year hit late last night, lasted all day today, and is still coming down, though mostly done now. I've got between 10-12" of it here in Masons Cove. It's a pretty snow, just right, not too heavy or light. Covered everything fast. Mercifully came on a weekend too.


I went out for a walk when it slowed down some, and took a couple pictures.

Measured 14 inches here this morning.  The snow here is wet and heavy as, being further south, we were adding in moisture from the Gulf.  Power was out around 8 to 10 hours.  We were lucky; the next street over has been without power for around 24 hours and still is, as are many in our area.

Currently, we're looking at sleet and freezing rain possible over the next four hours, depending on the temperature; 1 or 2 degrees either way could make a big difference. Then probably a bit more snow the rest of the night and into tomorrow.

Any significant sleet and freezing rain increases the chance we lose power again.  I've got a fire going in the wood stove and will stoke it up before heading to bed.

14"??  Wow!  Talked to my Mom today (it being Sunday); she's at my sister's in Spencer; they only had 6.5" - but they were getting the sleet.   Kind of messed with the Old Folks' plans to head back to OH today.
