The bass player's function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car... everything else is merely colours.

Hi Goran, I think that is a lovely bass but I personally would not pay that much for it.
Plus on top of the listed price there is the cost of shipping to Europe including any duty and import taxes applicable and that could cost a pretty penny after all that is taken into account.
I made the mistake of forgetting that extra cost when I bought an alembic guitar from the states a few yars back and when the UK tax office rang me with the tax bill I had to pay before they would release it to me, that hurt and I resolved never to do that again unless the price of the bass including the shipping and taxes is a bargain.

I've have let some really exceptional basses pass me bye because of that. :-(

The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

Thanks so much for this... yes, importing can be stressful for musician and wallet... :)

Jazzy is right-on Goran, especially for you fellas in Europe. That price is Series I territory even here in the U.S. of A.

I'm just a sucker for 5-string Alembics... especially when they come in birdseye maple... with Distillate features.  ;D

Same here! :)
But yes, for us that's a high price to pay :)

Here is another https://www.sweetwater.com/used/listings/7438-used-alembic-1988-alembic-custom-persuader-5-string-bass-with-quilted-maple-top-guitar?fbclid=IwAR0OftwuO0F7Gt2xp1gVnmlVPaFgZj34S9BD2GQKoBMWxpcQLRxlbck5Dls

The bass on Sweetwater was recently flagged by members here as a fraudulent listing. Stay clear...

IMO $2,200-$2,400 max would be a more reasonable price for the Distillate five-string. Even that is pushing it since there is no hard case available.
