Does anyone use a gig bag for a series I bass and where can I get one that will fit properly?

The general consensus I've read is that gig bags are evil...
 
Having said that, I use a gig bag almost exclusively.  Granted, I'm not playing clubs very often at all - mostly very controlled environments.  If I do play a less controlled gig (outdoor festival), the bass goes in a road case.
 
The only place I found a bag that would properly fit is from Alembic.  Unfortunately, it looks like they've stopped stocking/offering them.  They were pricey, but very well made - and they FIT.
 
There are bags out there that would appear to have the width to hold a large standard Alembic, but it's the length that gets ya.  The longest internal dimension I've seen quoted is 50.  My basses measure out to 51 & 52.  If you have an older Omega, it might be just at or under 50.  I remember hearing that JimmyJ used to use a Reunion Blues bag.  I talked to them years ago and know that the original bag pattern was for a 50 internal length.  And we all know that Jimmy plays an older Omega.... ;-)

I recently purchased a Body Glove Hybrid Bass bag (very hard to find).  Sam Ash was the vendor but I no longer see them at their site and I know for a fact that the quantity was very low.  Body Glove spec is 50 and it fit my Series 35 scale (50 overall).  I like the bag for the money (msrp - 179.00, found if for $100).  I also found one at Bananas at Large in San Francisco when I was looking (their last one, also $100).  There has been mention of this bag on the forum which is why I wanted to try and find for my needs. I know I should use a hard case after 3 broken necks, but this old man hates carrying that obnoxious case. Plus it's old and needs restitching and a new handle.  
 
I've looked at Reunion Blues, but they are high dollar items, as are Alembic cases. Mine is a medium scale about 48.

Excel Makes very good Bass Bags, i use this one (pic below) for my Medium Scale Series Bass.

I use the Body Glove hard-sided bass gig back for my Series I 12 string.  Great bag.  The most protective gig bag I've ever encountered.

Incase.  Well worth the $200 price tag.  I have used mine exclusively regardless of the bass that comes with me for several years now.  My 35 scale Rogue 5 string fits - I see no reason why your medium scale SI wouldn't fit.
 
The only bass that I can't bring in the incase bag is my JPJ.  The body is too wide.

ExcelGig Bag.

I also have the incase bag and it's by far the most protective gig bag I've seen.

I'm also an incase fan but my wide 6 Spoiler and Europa 5 are too wide and too long. My 34 Excels are fine in it. I use a Protec for them.

I got tired of carrying the heavy hard case to jams and bought an Access gig bag for my Series I.  Has a nice outside pocket for the power supply, and a pocket on the face of it for little stuff.  Has worked fine.
