I believe "Dock" states that this was his "beloved Series II" from 1996, now on sale for $15,999.

Isn't that a series 1?

Looks like it has q switches not the CVQ control... correct me if I'm wrong.
The bass player's function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car... everything else is merely colours.

it reminds me of this bass owned by Jan-Olof Strandberg. The body styling is strikingly similar.

The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

You are totally right.  Thanks, let me fix that.

I agree, but it does say Series II on his paperwork...

There's no way a Series II bass left Alembic with block lettering on the head-stock like this, is there?

The gear looks real enough, but everything in the pics labeled "Alembic" sets off my alarm bells.

Listing is here. Proceed with caution. Caveat emptor.

Among the other kinda unique things on this bass, which Tomhug has already touched on elsewhere, is the large print "Alembic" in a unique font on the case and headstock, and the use of stainless Q switches instead of the more modern black ones.  Why didn't Alembic use their "calligraphed" signature and black Q switches vs. the expected CVQ knobs?

It's interesting to see these "touches" to say the least.

True, but the paperwork may not belong with the bass.

That is a really, really good point, Jon.  Also, I have not seen a blue build card before.  We're those a recent change, or not?

I wonder if a previous owner put that on themselves?

I have seen that font somewhere before, and recently, too.

The portion of the serial number visible in the picture of the body agrees with the serial number on the pictured build card.  There are other differences between Series I and Series II builds besides the CVQs; thus it is possible that a custom ordered Series II build could have Q switches instead of CVQ knobs.
