This beauty arrived with me today in London, UK and is in near mint condition for a 39 year old bass. I have had a couple of teething issues (mainly: I blew the DS5 external PSU as I stupidly didn't think about voltage difference US vs UK, doh!; discussed here http://club.alembicguitars.net/index.php?topic=23992.msg240170#msg240170). However, I should be able to sort these in short order. Cheers Clarky

That is one nice bass you purchased for yourself there.  Love the wood!

If for some reason they are unable to repair your DS-5 (highly unlikely) let me know as I have an older, non-rack version) sitting around that I never use because I've got one in my rack.  You could have it for the cost of shipping (and of course import duties).

Clarky

Hammer time! Sorry, doubt that was the first ...

Very kind offer. I hope, if my work schedule allows, to take my damaged DS-5 to the amp technician in the next day or two. If its not looking good, I will be in touch about your unit - and thanks again!

Congratulations & Compliments, Mark. That's a fine short-scale you've got there... looks to be in topnotch condition. Beautiful walnut too.  8)

Sweet looking vintage alembic there Carky, good choice. I will try my best to get the strings in the post today before the post office closes.

Wow, she's a beauty!
Thanks Stefanie! I am still trying to work out if the bass just sat in its case most of its 39 years as it looks like it was made this year ...

Great news Clarky. Sadly there are far too many basses like that that have been sat in a case for most of their lives instead of making music. Quite a few of us here have liberated a basses like that and got them back on stage where they belong.

Thanks JV but they are long scale so presumsbly the silk end wraps will only sit on the tuners (yes I am a bit OCD!)

The bass player's function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car... everything else is merely colours.

Clarky

Thanks Goran but an amp technician has been working on my DS5 and says he can fix it. Should get it by end of this week :D
