Flip, So sorry to hear of your fathers passing. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

A fitting way to keep his memory alive.

Flip
My condolences on the loss of your father.
In June 2010 I lost the girl that I had known for 20 years and wanted to marry. She was the biggest supporter of me playing Bass and she always came to practices and all the shows. So I thought it was only fitting to have Alembic build a Bass in her memory. I'm so glad that I did it. The Bass came out Beautiful and I think of and remember MaryAnn every time I play it.
So definitely have the Bass built for Father!!!!

My condolences, Flip.  Losing a parent is never easy.  I lost my dad 9 years ago and I still miss him.  I'm lucky that my mom is still quite sharp and relatively healthy at 91+.   Building a custom in your dad's honor is a thoughtful memorial that will undoubtedly send wonderul vibrations into the great beyond to sooth both of your spirits for many years to come.

My deepest sympathies and most heart felt condolences go out to you Flip and your
family. Your father lives on in the love you hold and share.
A bass to commemorate his life is indeed a wonderful thing to dedicate.
Each note you play will echo his memory and all those things he has set before him.

Peace to you my brother.

Flip, my deepest condolences, losing a parent is always tough, especially that early. The commemoration bass is a wonderful idea, knowing your taste, it will be stunning and last forever.

So sorry to hear about your Dad Flip. You're in my thoughts.

Late to this thread, don't often peruse this area.

Flip, as Dave said that is a great picture of you and your Dad.  I see a look in your face that reveals decades of lovely memories.  Embrace the loss, feel the emptiness and then allow that hollow to fill back up.

Sorry to hear of your loss Flip;  nice idea to have Alembic build a bass as a tribute to him.

If you would like to have really black fret markers,  I would happily send some Whitby jet to Santa Rosa for this purpose.

Again, thanx all!

This tribute bass will have to wait a while, but I have a special order running in Santa Rosa for this one:

Custom bridgeblock that will hold some of my fathers ashes, top part will be engraved and get a black chrome finish.

Did somebody say "Beyond Custom"?

For the tribute bass I'm leaning towards the tree of life inlay, most appropriate if only I can overcome its heavy price tag. :-)
(and off course also one of those custom bridgeblocks, Gold plated on the tribute bass)

That is a great idea Flip, keeping a personal memory with you as you play will be great.
I love that tree of life inlay too and would like to choose it on a custom build if I can afford it in the future.

The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!
