I want to list this bass for sale accurately.  Inherited from a relative.

Spoiler with a drop-D tuner on the low E string.  Electronics look untouched.  Bought used from Bass Northwest in 2003.  I have the original bill of sale.

Some dings and wear around the input jack and near the picking area by the strings.

Corrected Serial Number; thanks, Mica!

This serial number is incomplete - there should be four numbers after the S. Can you check again?

Corrected serial number.

Thanks!

There's not much to report from the file. All I can tell you is the birthday, 11-15-1982.

Post a picture of the front and back and I will tell you the details, then record in the file (but I have some guesses already!).

Okay, here are some photos.

Yeah, this is an original Spoiler bass.

body: Solid Koa
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 32"
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
pickups: Alembic AXY
controls: "Spoiler" volume, pickup selector switch, filter, Q-switch, mono output
logo: rare decal

Since these all had the same specs at the time, there are some files which just have the date and the initials of the person that did the setup work.

Hm, that's an interesting logo.Always thought these earliest Spoilers had a decal spelling out "Spoiler", and a decal of the logo too. But this definitely looks like a brass logo, with rays and all.

I don't recall seeing a brass logo like that before. Looks really neat.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

The body looks to be in nice shape for a bass of this vintage. What happended to the back of the headstock. Looks like the player may have gotten too close to wild animal at the zoo.

I thought the same thing Jazzy, but being this is an '82 Spoiler, I'm guessing it has a bronze logo mounted *over* an original decal. Cool idea! ;)

*Interesting, it doesn't seem to have the 'Spoiler' script though.

**Now that I'm viewing it on a bigger screen... yeah, I've never seen one quite like that. Fascinating.

You're right, Adriaan. I didn't catch that but the logo is not any official logo we have ever made.
