We all know how wonderful the exotic tops woods of Alembics are, but let us not forget how beautiful the backsides of them can be.

Cast away your shyness, turn them round and reveal all to the masses. ... :-)

Here's mine to start the cheeks rolling.

My kinda thread!
I have always felt that there is a stark beauty to the back of an instrument - it is the backbone, the foundation that holds all of the 'pretty' stuff!

Thanks, Dave
So far when I'm shooting her in open sunlight, my bass photographically renders with too much red in the cocobolo and reduced contrast in the exotic cat/Jovian atmosphere wood grain patterns. When she's in her open case in my poorly lit studio, she looks much more stunning than in these shots. I'm seeking ways to duplicate that look in my photos -- both with natural and artificial lighting techniques.

Here's a link to an article that offers great advice on how to take flattering pictures of your instruments. It appeared on Bunnybass.com. Too bad they went away, IMHO the best on-line gallery for bass eye candy. Say Cheese

Michael,
Thanks for the very informative link. I'll certainly do some experimentation based on this article. Our babies deserve the best!
