Did I miss it or did they not provide the year?  Looks to be in beautiful condition.

They don't list the year in the description and the serial number in the photo is a little too blurry to tell. Nice looking bass though.

From the type of logo on the pickups, it's probably late '80s early '90s, I guess.

As far as I know, an 80s instrument would have left the factory with Schaller tuners, and the Alembic/Gotoh tuners are not drop-in replacements.

Very nice!
Unfortunately not for sale in Europe...does anybody know how much VAT and other duties would be?

If anyone wants me to check this bass out in person, let me know.

You can calculate about 30% more than selling price, including the shipping

Grazie!

I'm sure Tony at Planet Bass would be happy to share the serial number with anyone who asked. We did change from Schallers to Gotohs as the default tuners around 1986 or 1987. I don't recall when we got the custom markings put on them, but probably within a couple of years of the start. I would guess this bass as a 1991. We had an amazing gold plater at the time that was even willing to do the machine screws and not mess them up :) The bass looks in great condition, but it's been played a lot - there is some tell-tale wear on the gold plating both on the backplates and the front hardware. That's not a bad thing of course, I'm always glad to see when one of our little babies gets loved!
Pickups are not always indicative of the year - many people still request completely plain pickups on custom builds, so keep in mind the "custom" thing makes guessing hard. Always have to look for several clues.

I contacted Tony at Planet Bass and he confirmed that the Series 2 is indeed a 1991. Seems to be in good shape, very tempted...but the high import duties make it difficult...

This would be my dream bass, but the price is quite steep, and the import duties are more than prohibitive.
