I'm not even sure I can go ahead with this but I'm putting the feelers out just in case I do. I'm considering putting up these two basses for sale. Reason, well they have seen very little action live or home use since I bought my black Europa 5 a few years back which gives me the best of what these basses do except the quick tone changes. I'm not putting a price on them yet until I know what I'm going to do but I'm just putting it out there in case someone is interested. If so please PM me and I will contact you first if i decide to put it on the open market.
I have been through these thoughts a few times over the last few years but as soon as I play them i'm reminded why i bought them.
Here they are

Although better ears than me may hear otherwise but, with the filter fully open this bass sounds very close to my series II.

Now that I'm on this side of the pond (in Ireland), I might be interested...
I'm not willing to take my Series 5 out to play in pubs, so I wish I still had my Rogue 5.
Any idea what you might be asking for the Europa 5?

I e always loved that purple Elan.  If you end up looking to move it, let me know what you're looking for price wise.   Not sure I could swing it right now, but I'd try.

Jazzy those are both beautiful basses.  I don't envy you, I hope you do what's best for you! The bright side is that you're not forced to sell them so if you do, you can do it on your terms!

I'm definitely interested in the Elan. Let me know when you're ready to sell!

Btw, I would have sent you a PM but I couldn't figure out how on this new forum. :/

Seems we have a mutual bass admiration scenario going on here Japhy4529 :-)

Yeah you are right there, they are great basses and it would be a shame to see them go but I'm sure the right series replacement would soften the blow. It's a common story here on the forum of owners selling alembics and then wishing they hadn't only to  buy them back years later. Fortunately my other half doesn't like the idea of me to get rid of any of my alembics either and she has discouraged me from doing it a number of times and I've off loaded some little used guitars instead to fund my alembic habit.

Yes, we certaintly do! I've only ever played the elan 5 that I own, but it was enough to hook me into elans and alembics in general. Alembics and Spectors are my two favorite bass manufacturers. Both companies make great instruments and really go out of their way to treat their customers right (even those of us who buy used).

Some things are just to hard to let go. I have recently gigged with both these basses and they are so addictive I can't let them leave.
