Saw this on Japanese auction site.... is this legit?  if not, someone took some effort to make this look pretty cool and awesome.

BTW, been while since I posted here... how's everyone?

It's NOT legit, on a par with those fake Fender headstock decals you can buy on the web.

But . . . . . I've always thought an 'official' one of these would be just the ticket.

Actually, this is legit, just very rare! There are 250 of these cloisonné pins in the world. Mom still has hers, it looks just the same. It is something I'm going to have made again, but the artwork will be slightly different. Mom and I were talking about the design a couple of weeks ago, how it wasn't too bad with the white circle replacing the dragon. We also had 500 all gold ones made, but to me these are much cooler.

Also - hi, Takeo. Glad to see you here!

Still have mine, too. Came with an 82 Distillate bass. I have never seen the all gold variant.

I have a gold one somewhere(I hope).
It's one of those things I haven't seen in a while and I've lost my mental dewey decimal card.
I'm thinking maybe in a case pocket.

Check the case with ol' 1100 in it.  ;)

Maybe it's just my monitor, but looking closely the pin seems to spell "ALAMBIC"?

Bill, you should know those cool hippy fonts are meant to be read backwards in a mirror,
and maybe upside down. I bet all that SF music poster art really made for puzzling looks
if you didn't have the special glasses on.

If you squint a little more, you'll see it's actually "ALAMBIA" or maybe it's just those closed 13th century letters ;)

StephenR

A long time ago a friend had a small souvenir model of the Empire State Building that said Empia State at the base.

I had never noticed that the lettering on the pin could be read as Alambic until Bill brought it up. Now I need to go back and squint.

If possible, I would like to get one of these.  Could one of the members in Japan give me their e-mail address to PayPal them price and shipping and I would be happy and grateful for help in procuring one for this old codger.  Thank you.

mica

I'll try really hard to keep the new ones under that price :)

Hi Takeo; all is well here.  I hope it is with you as well.
