As you may recall I play bass in Musical Youth. Anyway a while back we recorded the album and one of the tracks was a live recording of "I shot the Sheriff" taken from a concert we performed. To cut a long story short, my bass part ended up being the one part that was kept fully intact on the recording and because of mic spillage and other stuff the rest of the track was re-recorded in the studio. Today I got an email forwarded to me from the band leader that he got from the publishers of Bob Marley's music.

I have removed the non relevant parts of the email and left the most important parts. Well from my perspective anyway.

"Hi.......
The cover of 'I Shot The Sheriff' reached me and I've got approval for go ahead from the Marley Estate.

..............You got a great bass sound onto this version by the way! I'm totally locked into it!

Thanks for now,"

So that lifted an otherwise uneventful rainy day in England into a great day!!!
FYI: This is the bass I used on that recording my Maple Alembic Europa 5 for that concert and I guess the bass sound was down to me, my Alembic and how it was mixed. However I like to think I gave the recording a great sound to start the ball rolling and as the producer is also our drummer and he loves the sound of that bass, he would have tried to keep the character of the bass in the recording. I haven't heard the mastered version of the album so I'm looking forward to that.

Apparently the album is at last slated for release at the end of this month. I will post some links when it's available.
http://alembicguitars.net/club/messages/411/83134.html?1334349244

That's awesome! I have to admit, I wasn't sure what "chuffed" meant, I was hoping that I was right that it was good - and it does! Looking forward to hearing the track.

Congrats, Jazzy! I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised to read your post, as "chuffed" sounded to me like you were pissed off about something!

Therein lies the colourful difference between our versions of the English language.

Congrats on the album and comment from the Marley Estate.

I must have spent too much time around folks from/in the UK as I knew what chuffed meant when I first saw it.

Very cool! The closest thing to a maple Alembic that I own is my Ric with Activators, and it does indeed mean business. 8)

Congrats! What a great validation!

And yes, we are two nations separated by a common language.

Cool! Like hieronymous, I checked in not knowing what "chuffed" meant and hoping that it was good. Turns out it was GREAT!
