I completely forgot to post anything here, but I have recently added Alembic Activators to my '89 Ric 4003S. Mary and Mica were VERY helpful with this project, so thanks to them. I'm running it with vol/vol/filter/Q switch. The thing that inspired this in the first place was my purchase of a gorgeous '86 Distillate from forum member a couple of summers ago. I love the range of tones, and I'm able to get it to sound very close to a Ric if I want. With my 4003S being my favorite bass ever, I decided to take the plunge. And the results are pretty great! I don't have any great pics, but here's a couple, including a live shot. Got major props from the FOH engineer at the first live show. So how does it sound? That looks and sounds great! Thanks for the sound sample.

I would still love to have an Alembicized Ric but I love the way my Rics sound stock. However, my experience with Activators is that they still sound like the instrument, but offer so much more as well.

I know what you mean. I'm still torn about passive versus Activators. I need that Alembic sound on some of our material, but my Distillate is so mint, I'm afraid to gig with it! I need to find a more "lovingly used" Spoiler or something. =)

Great sounding song.  Post up when you have more.

And BTW - I bought an Alembic Rogue because I was worried about taking my '75 Rick 4001 out - LOL             Go play that Alembic :)

Thanks very much! We've got 3 more close to completion. Just need to finish guitars, violin and mix.

And that's super funny. Take care of that '75! I did promise myself that my Chris Squire Ltd. Ed. would be my only "museum piece"...

I am looking for a set of Ricky pickups for a Greco Rick copy bass I have.
