Brother Paul; please throw another log on the fire while I tune up the strings on these snow shoes.

I stopped into a store I used to work at with a bottle of champaign for my old boss and he gives me a gig bag and a Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro.  Now I've got to figure out how it works.

Since I normally play my bass unplugged while I'm watching TV I guess the copy of the extended version of The Return Of The King that my wife gave me is Bass related

I was at my brother's house and we decided to watch Return Of The King.  We did not realize how long the extended version was.  My sister in law opened it up, but apparently it was not immediately clear just how long a movie we were in for.  We thought it was going to be two and a half hours; and then I would get in my car and drive two and a half hours back to my house.  It turned out to be a very late evening.

I refuse to accept a bass related limitation on this thread.  I PROTEST!  In furtherance of my rebellion I received the following NON-BASS related, (but very cool) stuff from my wife and kid:

Moody Strap (very soft and supple - yea!);

G.D. Beyond Decription 1973-1989 Box Set;
G.D. Anthology Songbook (different from my                                               previous G.D. Anthology songbook);
G.D. Birth of the Dead 2 disc CD recorded in                                                                 1965 & 1966;
G.D. 2005 calendar (is there a pattern emerging                                                                                      here?);
50 picks with my band's name printed on them;
Alembic hooded sweatshirt;
Alembic coffee mug;
Alembic poster;
A Towelie watch;
Tofurky - tofu beef jerky;
a few other things; and,
Senior Management is letting me shop for another guitar next weekend at the World Guitar Show.

Also I got her a drum set which I get to mess with as it's curently sitting in the middle of our living room (I wonder how long until she suggests moving it to the spare bedroom?)

Hope everyone got what they wanted, and have a Happy New Year,

Bill, tgo

I got a 'script to Bass Player and I get to use the digital camera I got my wife.
Bill, tgo, so you got tofu for Christmas, too, huh?

Two gifts that can help me out musically.....

A 40 Gig iPod and a TiVO.

I also have an FM transmitter that allows me to play the iPod through any car speakers.

My wife hooked up the TiVO to our home network, so I can play any of the music I have on any of the computers we have in the house through our stereo.  That includes all the iPod stuff in iTunes!!  So far I only have about 3 gig on the iPod.  That's an ungodly number of albums / CDs.  72 artists and counting.

Peace,

In Tokyo now, I got a Crafted in Japan sunburst fretless '62 (reissue) Fender Jazz Bass! I already put three Telecaster chrome knobs on it and have started learning Continuum.

I got myself a pretty Mexican Fender Jazz 5-string. Fun to play around with, sounds very nice with a little help from the SF-2 Superfilter and great for a 4-string fundamentalist like me to discover why 5-strings are the standard nowadays...

Wilfred - that is pretty sweet. Great photograph too. Is the fretboard rosewood?

I would have to do something with that action  ;-)

the_mule

Tom, the fretboard is Pao Ferro and the picture is a typical example of a 'lucky shot'. And Roger, the action is quite low and comfortable actually, although I must admit the picture doesn't make that very clear...
